Bio: Namita is a data designer and illustrator who is advocating for sustainable solutions. She uses inks, markers, and pencils to spur action on climate change. Research is her jam. With her artwork, she deftly and gently communicates environmental solutions, such as permaculture and greener urban planning. “My goal is to inspire others to explore and implement sustainable solutions within their own lives.”

On creative community: “I am connected to Urban Sketchers Seattle, as well as Cornish College of the Arts. I am a community-taught artist.”

On process: “I start by researching an environmental challenge, exploring existing solutions, and collecting data. I then begin to sketch out scenes and design data layouts to help visually convey this information.”

On getting unstuck: “Go into nature, whether it is the garden, a farm, or a hike in the forest.”

On exploring: Namita has traveled to 21 countries, from Mexico to Malaysia. She received her sailing license on the Great Lakes in Michigan, where she grew up, and she is exploring travels in sustainable transportation by train, sailboat, bike, and more.

Hometown: “Issaquah, Washington, is my current hometown. I have previously lived in the Midwest, Northeast, and on the East Coast.”
