An Artist-Led Collective
Britt Greenland
Painter
Bio: Britt is an impressionistic landscape artist who you can find oil painting in her backyard studio, or outdoors all over the Cascade Mountains or the Oregon Coast. She is a Signature member of the Puget Sound Group Northwest Artists, a collective that is nearly a century old, as well as Plein Air Washington Artists.
On being cheesy: “My first real oil painting lessons were from an accomplished oil painter I met in 2012 because she let my sheep use her pasture. She didn't really want to give lessons, but I was persistent, and in the end, she agreed on the condition that I paid in homemade goat cheese.”
On creative community: “Surrounding myself with other creatives is essential. I formed a small artist connection group about a decade ago, and we understand each other’s challenges in ways even our spouses can’t.”
On rhythm: “The only thing that ever gets me stuck is depression. I've learned to just accept and wait out the ebbs and flows of life, knowing that creativity will return with the sunshine.”
On local hidden gems: “For natural beauty, Confluence Park. For shopping, Champion Grocery Outlet.”
Hometown: Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. “A small, quirky town with its water tower painted like a fishing bobber.”
Where you won’t find Britt: On social media. “You won't find me on Facebook or Instagram. I’ve been free and happy since June 2020.”
